Montana Weddings and Events Behind the Trend?

We always kind of half-joke that Montana is at least 5 years behind the trends. Well in some cases this is true, but for others, it’s just not! I think the reason for this is because we are stuck in a mason jar burlap feel because well, it’s that rustic vibe everyone is looking for when they think Montana. I also think in some cases that locally everyone is repurposing all their decor that it just never goes away. So basically, Montana may be behind the trend by a few years, but the wedding and event planners are not! We as planners go to all sorts of conferences and take classes and are totally up to date on all the things! So let’s look at just a few trends going on right now.

Moving with the times.

If you talk to any wedding planner or event planner in Montana they will most likely cringe a little if you mention that you want mason jars and burlap. We are all about trying to do something original. Something that isn’t overdone. Now don’t get me wrong. If you really really want those mason jars, then we will certainly do that!  BUT we will probably try to do it in such a way that may not have been done before. Yes, there are still some things left. But contrary to popular belief we can do all sorts of things!

Trends looking forward

Of course, we know that the Pantone colors for 2021 are yellow and gray. Which at first I was like, ugh. Only because I’m not a huge yellow fan. But playing with the colors a bit, there are some amazing combinations of color, texture, and design that make this amazing! It all depends on how you display it. So I have to say the more I look into it, the more it’s growing on me.

Let’s talk balloons.

When the balloon thing really hit a few years ago I was totally on the fence about it. But then I did 2 events in 2020 that had the balloon installation. I totally fell in love with it! Most people think of balloons for only birthday parties and fundraiser events. Oh no! Balloons have come a long way and the techniques that surround them are short of amazing! They add fun to any type of event. Balloons are not a completely cheap way to go but they do cost less than flowers. So if you really want a statement piece you can incorporate flowers and greenery into your balloon installation.

So who can do these crazy balloon installations?

You are completely sold on the balloon thing and NEED them at your next event. Where can you get someone to do these? Some rental places, florists, and of course your planner. As always, I’m going to advise you to get quotes from at least these 3 to see who has the best price and who can give you what you are looking for. When you inquiring about balloons, the price is going to be determined by the size of the installation mostly. The bigger the installation, the more balloons and more time.

Hybrid Events

Because of the state of the world with COVID-19, many events have switched to either a full virtual event or a hybrid event. In any case, the guest numbers for in-person events have gone way down! So what exactly is a hybrid event? This is an event that has a virtual component as well as a modified in-person component. Technology has come a long way over the past few years. And although virtual events are nothing new, only large companies have been utilizing these on a regular basis…mostly because they were the only ones that could afford it. So it seemed sort of out of reach for anyone else. Well, that has changed with the likes of platforms like Zoom and GoToMeeting. Don’t be afraid of technology! I’m in the middle of doing a virtual trade show which is going to be amazing using a platform called Hopin. Planners, venues and vendors have adjusted to accommodate all sorts of events. If you can think it, we can make it happen!!!
